Symptoms of Dengue Fever
Dengue fever, also known as break-bone fever, is a viral infection spread by mosquitoes. It is common in tropical and subtropical climates, particularly in Southeast Asia.
Symptoms of dengue fever can range from mild to severe, and typically appear within 4-10 days after being bitten by an infected mosquito. Common symptoms include:
- High fever (104°F/40°C or higher)
- Severe headache
- Muscle, joint, and bone pain
- Nausea and vomiting
- Skin rash
- Bleeding gums or nosebleeds
In severe cases, dengue fever can lead to complications such as dengue hemorrhagic fever or dengue shock syndrome, which can be life-threatening.
